Due to inclement weather Columbia College has transitioned to remote operations for the week of February 17-20, 2026. While most operations will be remote, the campus will be open between 10:00 am – 4:00 pm each day. The campus will be closed from 4:00 pm – 10:00 am on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Campus will remain closed from 4:00 pm Friday, February 20 – 8:00 am Monday, February 23, 2026.

Join us for our 2nd Teaching & Learning Summit!  

This year's Teaching & Learning Summit will feature renowned speaker and author, Erin Gruwell, educator, author, and founder of the Freedom Writers Foundation. We are inviting our campus community, local community members, students and educators, as well as partner colleges from our local region to join us for learning from Erin (and each other) about fostering an educational philosophy that values and promotes diversity, with students at the center.

THURSDAY, APRIL 3, 2025 - 5pm - 8:30pm

  • 5:00pm – 7:30pm: Freedom Writers Film Screening and free dinner (Dogwood Theater)
  • 7:40pm-8:30pm: Behind the Scenes and Q&A with Erin Gruwell & Freedom Writers Team
  • Open Book Signing available after Q&A session

FRIDAY, APRIL 4, 2025 - 8am-3pm

  • 8:00am - Check in (Dogwood Theater) & light breakfast (Buckeye 104)
  • 9:00am - Keynote Session with Erin Gruwell (Dogwood Theater)
  • 11:00am - Special Session with Mauricio ‘Tony’ Becerra, one of the original Freedom Writers (Dogwood Theater)
  • 12:00pm - Lunch Meet & Greet with Open Book Signing (Buckeye 104)
  • 1:15-3:00pm - Educator Workshop with Erin & Tony (Dogwood Theater)
