Mae Tippett

Mae Tippet Peer mentor picture

Hello!

My full name is Anna Mae Tippett but I usually go by Mae! I was born and raised in Tuolumne County, but as an adult, I have lived and travelled in many other places worldwide. I attended college directly out of high school but decided to take a break for three years. During this time I experienced a whirlwind of the positive and negative experiences that make up the balance of this life. Finally, I decided to go back to school, with a fresh perspective and newfound motivation for my educational journey. I am majoring in Social and Behavioral Sciences and hoping to graduate by next spring, ready to transfer onwards towards my bachelor’s degree. Although I have a declared major, it doesn’t begin to cover the range of interests and passions that I have! I have always loved to travel and have been blessed to experience the rich cultural diversity of twelve different countries across the world. I believe that this has complimented my open-mindedness as a human being and taught me priceless life lessons. I am thrilled to be back here at Columbia College and be able to play a role in the resourceful community here. I am also a part of the TRiO program and an English and Child Development Tutor with the Academic Achievement Center. I believe that having multiple roles as a student at this school allows me to have a broad perspective of student life and success! I love to connect and build a feeling of belonging and purpose within myself and others in a community. I believe that my life experiences have given me the opportunity to relate with others in a unique way. Excited to be here and I hope to connect with you soon!
