Special Programs has identified the following Student Learning Outcomes for the various
services provided by Special Programs:
SLO#1: Students will demonstrate awareness of Columbia College campus services and
resources (ISLO #2,3)
SLO #2: Students will demonstrate self-awareness and high levels self-efficacy, as
well as self-advocacy skills (ISLO #3)
SLO#3: Students will demonstrate the ability to identify an educational goal and develop
an appropriate plan for reaching that goal. (ISLO #2,3)
Special Programs has identified the following Service Area Outcomes for the various
services provided by Special Programs:
SAO#1: Students participating in special programs will have achievement levels similar
to those of their peers who are not “educationally disadvantaged” (Eliminating achievement
gaps).
SAO #2: Students participating in special programs will have access to high quality
services (Providing access to high quality programs).
CalWORKS
The CalWORKS staff have identified the following Student Learning Outcomes for the
various services provided by the CalWORKS Program:
SLO#1: Participants will demonstrate ability to develop an appropriate educational
plan. (SPLO #3 ISLO #2,3)
SLO#2: Participants will demonstrate knowledge of campus support services including
deadlines for application to the various resources; such as, but not limited to EOPS/CARE,
Financial Aid, and DSPS. (PSLO #1, ISLO #2,3)
SLO#3: Participants will demonstrate self-advocacy skills. (SPLO #2, ISLO #1)
DSPS
The DSPS staff has identified the following Student Learning Outcomes for the various
services provided by DSPS:
SLO#1: Participants will demonstrate awareness of campus services and resources available
to them (SPLO#1, ISLO#2,3)
SLO#2: Participants will demonstrate self-advocacy skills with college instructors,
(SPLO #2, ISLO #1,3)
SLO#3: Participants will demonstrate the independent use of appropriate assistive
technology (ISLO #2).
SLO #4: Participants will identify functional limitations and educational barriers
that are specific to the individual. SPLO #2, ISLO #3)
SAO#1: DSPS participants will have access to high quality tutoring services (SPAO
#2)
SAO #2: DSPS Participants will have course success rates equal to those of their peers
who are not enrolled in DSPS (SPAO #1)
EOPS
The EOPS staff has identified the following Student Learning Outcomes for the various
services provided by EOPS:
SLO #2: Participants will demonstrate high levels of self-efficacy. (SPLO #2, ISLO
#1,2,3)
SAO #1: EOPS participants will have higher rates of persistence than their similarly
disadvantaged in their efforts to develop and reach their educational goals. (SPAO
#1)
SAO #2: EOPS participants will demonstrate higher GPA’s than their peers who are similarly
disadvantaged in their efforts to develop and reach their educational goals. (SPAO
#1)
CARE
The CARE staff has identified the following Student Learning Outcomes for the various
services provided by CARE:
SLO #1: Participants will demonstrate high levels of self-efficacy related to their
ability to reach their goals. (SPLO #2, ISLO#1,2,3)
TRiO
The TRiO staff has identified the following Student Learning Outcomes for the various
services provided by TRiO:
SLO #1: Enrolled SSS students will demonstrate an ability to continually set and achieve
(or modify appropriately) short and long term goals. (ISLO #3)
SLO #2: Enrolled SSS students will demonstrate self-advocacy skills and high levels
of self-efficacy. (SPLO #2, ISLO #1,2,3)
SLO #3: Enrolled SSS students will demonstrate the ability to conduct university/transfer
research and use this research to make appropriate decisions about preparing for and
transferring to a four-year institution with the goal of completing a bachelor’s degree.

SLO #4: Enrolled students will demonstrate knowledge about how to afford college,
specifically the costs associated with transferring to a university to complete a
bachelor’s degree. (ISLO #2).
SAO #1: SSS Participants will demonstrate higher GPA’s than their SSS- eligible peers/not-served.

SAO #2: SSS participants will persist from fall term to fall term at a higher rate
than their eligible peers/not-served. (baseline of 44.7% college wide) (SPAO #1)
SAO #3: SSS participants will graduate at higher rate, within four years, from Columbia
College than their eligible peers/not-served. (baseline 10.4%) (SPAO#1)
SAO #4: SSS participants will graduate and then transfer at a higher rate than their
eligible peers/not-served. (baseline 6.6%) (SPAO #1)
Mental Health Services
The Mental Health Services faculty has identified the following Student Learning Outcomes
for the various services provided by Mental Health Services:
SLO #1: Participants will demonstrate knowledge of campus support services for mental
and emotional health and wellbeing. (PSLO #1, ISLO#2)
SLO #2: Students will demonstrate the ability to identify an appropriate tool for
addressing a psychological/mental health issue.
