Columbia College Career and Transfer Center

Columbia College has a Career and Transfer Center that helps students with career exploration and job search services. Students can receive assistance in resume, cover letter, and job applications as well as practice interview techniques and learn about community job opportunities.   
Center also has an interview clothing closet where students can utilize free professional clothing.

Columbia College Student Worker Opportunities + Work Study

Columbia College offers a wide variety of employment opportunities for students. To learn more about what is available, call (209) 588-5273. Learn more online.  

The Federal Work Study (FWS) Program provides part-time jobs on campus as part of a financial aid offer to eligible students with unmet financial need. Students must be enrolled at least half-time (6 units) in order to be eligible and may work 5 to 15 hours per week for minimum wage. A student is ineligible for the program if they are in disqualification appeal status or if they have already participated in the program for a total of four semesters. 
To participate in the Federal Work Study Program, students need to include their interest in their FAFSA application.  Learn more online.    

Mother Lode Job Training

Mother Lode Job Training is a local resource center that assists people in career planning, job searching, training, applying for scholarships, and more. For general questions, call (209) 533-3396.   
The Tuolumne County office is located at 197 Mono Way, Suite B in Sonora.   
The Calaveras County office is located at 7 Main Street in San Andreas. 
The Amador County office is located at 1 Prosperity Court in Sutter Creek. 
The Mariposa County office is located at 5362 Lemee Lane in Mariposa.

CalWORKs Jobs Now

CalWORKs stands for California Work Opportunities and Responsibility to Kids. CalWORKs is a statewide program that assists students who also receive TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) recipients who need assistance in learning long-term self-sufficiency skills.   
To enroll in the CalWORKs program, students must receive cash assistance in the form of TANF for themselves, be enrolled at Columbia College, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.   
CalWORKs services include: priority registration, career and academic counseling, work-study, subsidized childcare, job placement, textbooks (book loan program), tutoring, transportation assistance (bus passes/mileage reimbursement), financial aid, and school supplies.

Lambert Community Center

The Lambert Community Center offers free Internet and support with applying for jobs. The center is located at 347 West Jackson Street in Sonora and is open from Monday through Friday from 11 am to 2 pm. For more information, call (209) 533-4879.
