Columbia College Foundation Mini-Grants

The Columbia College Foundation now offers mini-grants that support its mission “to promote student success by providing community resources that support and expand educational opportunities for Columbia College's students.” Applications are reviewed by a Subcommittee of the Foundation Board of Directors.

The Mini-grant Guidelines and Application Form is available here. The Fall 2013 deadline to apply is October 24, 2013.

The following projects will receive funding in the Fall 2012 cycle:

Columbia College Speech & Debate Team – participate in two Forensics competitions: $1,000
Guest lecturer/Inspirational Speaker, Pam Houston, UC Davis Creative Writing: $1,200
Online registration software for Community Education: $4,000
Fire Academy – PPE, visual aids, field trips to K-12 schools, events, training props: $3,000
Child Development Club – student memberships in NAEYC: $500
Professional Development Institute: $3,800
Columbia College Choir 2013 Spring Tour: $1,000
Portable white boards for library: $460

Total Awards: $14,960

The following projects received funding in the Spring 2012 cycle:

University tour & cultural event field trips for 25 students: $750
Fall 2012 Wellness Fair: $2,000
GED Exam fees for 10 students: $1,600
Transportation for the English 1B Berkeley Repertory Theatre trip in Spring 2013: $525
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification for Auto Technology students: $1,000
Laptops for Columbia College ESL students studying at the Family Resource Center at Jamestown School: $1,000
Improvements to the Mental Health counseling area to create a more beneficial client/therapist environment: $975

Total Awards: $7,850

Fall 2011 Mini-Grants Awards

The Foundation received 16 applications in Fall 2011 totaling $16,658.85. The following projects will receive funding in the Fall 2011 cycle:

Sponsor Academic Wellness Educators Spring 2012 Wellness Fair: $1,325
Purchase piano software: $350
Columbia College Choir Annual Tour: $1,000
Expand the library’s children’s book collection: $1,000
Provide transportation for the English 125 five-day field trip to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival: $550
Provide transportation for an English 1B Berkeley Repertory Theatre trip: $525
Support the development of a Medical Coding certificate: $408.85
Create a Child Development Student Club: $500

Total Awards: $5,908.85

Thank you to everyone who applied for a mini-grant. Although we were not able to fund all of the proposals, the next cycle of mini-grants will be held in Spring 2012.
